In response to new global legislation - such as the recent Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act of 2024 (DMCCA) in the UK, we’ve introduced a way to ensure greater transparency for incentivized reviews.
What’s new?
You can now manually tag reviews as “Incentivized” directly from the Timeline in your REVIEWS.io dashboard. Once tagged, these reviews will display an “Incentivized” badge on your profile page, helping customers make better-informed purchasing decisions.
Why incentivize reviews?
Incentivizing reviews - when done transparently - is a powerful way to:
Increase social proof, especially for new product launches
Drive review volume by rewarding customers for participation
Boost photo and video reviews
What’s coming next?
Automatic integration-based tagging: Detecting and tagging incentivized reviews when you use integrations with loyalty tools or send review invites using our dynamic link feature.
Automatic tagging of templates: Flagging reviews incentivized invitation templates automatically.
“Incentivized” tag on widgets: Expanding the "Incentivized" badge visibility beyond profile pages, so it shows directly in your review widgets as well.
Manual Review Booster tagging: Review booster - mark the whole list
Voucher code tagging: If the user has set up a voucher code on the collector page we will automatically add this tag to the review, regardless of the above setting.
What counts as an incentive?
If a customer receives something in exchange for their review, it should be marked as “Incentivized.” Examples include:
Loyalty rewards or status upgrades
Free products or samples
Discount codes or vouchers
Cash rewards (gift cards, store credit, refunds)
Sweepstakes or prize draw entries
